Narrow Leaf Chain Sword question

I just got some Narrow Leaf Chain Swords and was wondering if I could trim them to a length of 3 or 4 inches. They're currently about 12 inches. I want to eventually achieve a nice lawn in my 20 gallon high.

I wouldn't trim Echinodorus tenellus. Unfortunately it is not that kind of plant.
That would only cause the leaves to die back, and wouldn't look very good.

12" for that plant is a bit tall. How much light over the 20?

I have 36 watt flourescent on the tank. I received the plants in the mail that tall. I originally thought I was getting shorter plants. oops. Are they going to get any taller? Are they going to send out runners?

I don't think you have enough light, I had them growing in my 2.5 gallon with 18 watts and they grew slowly.

How many watts do you suggest I should have on it?

for E. Tennelus, 3+ wpg is best... are you sure its 12" high? maybe your including roots in the length, or maybe its not E. Tennelus, but saggitaria

Well, I thought I was getting Narrow Leaf Chain Sword, but now I don't know. I'm trying to post a picture, but the forum won't let me. I'm not really sure how to post it.

There are a few sword plants that are sold under the common name "Narrow Leaf Chain Sword" but not all of them are small. Sound like you bought one of the common Chain'ing swords

I'm not allowed to post attachments says that little box entitled "Posting Rules." Why is that?
