So i moved recently and its been about a year since i had a planted tank. I remember the beginning being rough but i also thought i had learned a lot. In reality Im not really sure how much I have learned but this is the first of many posts. First post of a picture. Hope it goes well.
I got some more plants and things are growing, but the red ones' new growth is only green. Guess i need to look into ones that are naturally red and havent been manipulated to be so. Here is an updated picture since i took the last.
60% water change today and started dry ferts. I also moved the spray bars and hope to get better co2 dispersion. The plants are still jumbled. I wanted to see what was gonna grow for me before i started arranging things the way i want them. I guess i should add a list of equipment also since this is my journal.
Tank: 55 gallon Deep Blue with spray painted back panel Filtration: Eheim Pro3 2071 and an Aquatop CF500UV Lighting: Aquaticlife 2 X 54w fixture with a 6700K bulb and a rosette bulb Substrate: Flourite black CO2: 5lb. Cannister/ dual stage regulator/ inline check valve Diffusion: GLA inline atomic diffuser Heating: Inline ETH300 Fertilizers: Dry ferts dosed dry daily
Oh how i wish for fish. My tank is still cycling yet but im not sure. My thoughts are some of, if not all of the following: cardinal and rummy nosed tetras, amano shrimp, assassin snails, maybe some sunburst platys?
thanks izabella. Anyone have any suggestions for unique community fish? I'm probably gonna go with either cardinal tetras OR the rummy nosed tetras because I think I want a big school and I dont want to crowd the middle level of the tank.
One of my platys had a small batch of fry. I see about 3 survivors after a week or so. I started taking a little tank water in a cup and mixing my ferts before dosing the tank after melting a plant. Added 10the juevie cardinal tetras to the tank yesterday. Looks like about nine of them are active and unphased by the transportation/acclimation . One of them is MIA. Doing 50% water change every saturday before lights on.
Also, if anyone is still reading, i really would like some advice on plant placement. As you can see i am lost.
