About to break down my 60P setup and don't know what to do with the aqua soil. I'd like to sell the whole setup. What is the best way to dry out or best storage method? Should it be kept moist? Should I just put it in a bucket wet, drill some holes in the bottom, and let it strain out? Any help would be great. Thank you.
When I let substrate dry out I just empty the tank and let it sit empty for several days while I remove the substrate off the top that has dried. Another method, if you've a backyard, get a cheap tarp and spread it out on the tarp in the yard and let the sun dry it out.
I took 2 saw horses, ran a bunch of 1x2's across them, and then unrolled a thing of fiberglass window screen it. I dumped the substrate out across it and let it sit for several days until it was completely dried out. I also rinsed it all out with a hose. I reused it later in my next tank, and it worked great.
I live in an apt so so I don't have anywhere to lay out my substrate. I have laid it on thin on a cookie pan and baked it lol
