I already have gravel from my past tanks but there like 5-6mm in size. Will this work for planted tanks?

5-6mm isn't too bad. Just a hair on the coarse side, but you could do a layer of laterite, profile or kitty litter on the bottom to fill it in a bit.

Ditch the 5-6mm gravel and go with a smaller gravel 2-3mm. If the gravel is to big it allows to much debris to fall through, if to small it will be to compact for the roots to grow properly and will not let the water circulate.

or fill with some smaller gravel,a nd just have a light layer of the big stuff on top.
i'd say 6mm gravel on it's own it too coarse.

I'd say if it is fairly round gravel, it is too coarse. If it is flat, oval, whatnot gravel in different sizes and shapes, it wouldn't be to bad, and adding some nutrituous layer underneath as Sam suggested would make it quite suitable for planting. Glosso wouldn't work though.
