MTS vs. Osmocote plus

I currently have a clay base (kitty litter) with osmocote tabs under flourite mixed with sand and gravel but I am getting ready to do a rescape on my 75gal. I plan on reusing the substrait but wanted to get opinions from people with experience in using MTS and osmocote. I have heavy root feeders (three large amazon swords and tons of crypts). My crypts are starting to lose their large leaves and are growing small, thinner leaves.

Here's a couple pictures of the 75 gallon tank I used to have, notice how lush and green the plants are. This is done using the MTS route, mixed with both Flourite, and kitty litter. I also used osmocote plus via -000- capsules, and wrapped them with mexican pottery clay. Also adding in dry ferts via -000- capsules every 2-3 months to replenish the soil.
