Peat Moss - A common tank substrate found at most hardware stores, ie Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

Might want to add:

Commonly used as a thin layer under substrait to provide nutrients for plants, or used in filter bags to help reduce hardness and pH.

Something so expensive and addictive HAS to be illegal. I'm just waiting for the police to break down my door and confinscate my fish food.

Rhyzome - fleshy part at the base of plants such as java fern, anubias, and bolbitus which the roots grow out of. Should not be burried in substrate.

Emersed Plant - When the plant is grown out of the water. That includes in regular soil or fluorite or whatever substrate, or it can mean that the plants are allowed to grow out of the water (ie: when the plants get too high in an aquarium) Emersed plants flower and bud. Some submersed plants can be grown emersed, but not all of them. submitted by epicfish

Submersed Plant - Plants that are grown under water only. Some submersed plants can be grown emersed, but not all of them submitted by epicfish

I noticed in your glossary that you write GH and KH as gH and kH. The upper case letters are the correct way to write them.

I did this sketch for my sister... who didn't know why the little Ammonia Alert thing in her tank isn't all she needs to worry about.

Thought it might make a useful addition to the Golossary or even to the main pages 'Getting Started'.

Obviously it doesn't cover everything, but it gives noobs a good start at understanding what is going on in their tank.

GH and KH should all be upper case.

gH - General hardness, measure of the concentration of magnesium and calcium ions

kH - Carbonate hardness, measures buffering capacity
