I have mutts so no conformation shows for me! Take a handling class and see how it goes. Training is good for bonding no matter what sort.

If that sort of showing doesn't appeal to both of you then you may get some feedback from others in the class. Lots to do with dogs these days. I started in obedience and moved to agility. There is flyball, disc, diving, tracking, herding, hunt, rally, skijoring, carting, sledding, weight pull, schutzhund and other protection sports and I don't know all the rest. Any dog can have fun in any of these but suspect some are more suited to given breeds or dog than others. Heavily built breeds aren't good jumpers, tiny dogs aren't going to be good at pulling you on skis and so on.
