My Back Yard Oasis

After seeing other people cool projects i decided to share some pics of my Back yard Oasis that I have been building over the past 2 summers. The waterfall is poodles but i still kinda sorta fits!

I was at Princess auto one day and bought a small billage pump with the intentions of making a "small" water featurte... Knowing my self i tend to over due things and go all out.. soon after i busted out the shovel and my 10$ billage pump soon upgrade to a 5,500GPH pump

It all started with a boring rocky hill

Time to get out the shovel..

And many many hours of sweat later.... something beautiful arose.

Next i wanted to move the hottub (behind the red fence panel) to open up the yard.. so out came the jack hammer to carve out part of the bank beside the water fall

Count less days/hours of jack hammering later I got may chunk of bank out, levelled it and moved the hottub.

Next was time to build steps/decking around the tub to tie it all in

Yay, more patio space

Next I wanted a fire table.. how ever they seemed to be highly overly priced (2,000 on average)... so in good DIY spirit.. i decided to build one!
In the end it probably cost me about 450$ and trading some skills (for the granite/cutting)

And to top it off.. I added a back yard drive in (who could say no to a free 18' screen!)

If anyone is curious about the DIY aspect i have tons of in progress pics.
and even a made a youtube video on the DIY waterfall process.

This summer I may do fake grass on the bottom layer of the yard and maybe a putting green (if i can find a good enough deal on fake grass and the bank account recovers from all these fish tanks!).

I hope you enjoyed my never ending back yard oasis project.

That's a lot of work, it looks good.

I'm not new to fish or plants, but am new to planted tanks. It is fun to learn new things and plantedtank.net is a great place to do it.

My Back Yard Oasis

Thank you! The secret is to just start digging and see what you come up with.

It was a ton of work but worth it in the end

Beautiful.

Looks very relaxing back there. Someday when I get too old to take care of my water garden it will get turned into a pondless waterfall. I think they are just as beautiful as ponds without all the maintenance.

All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death life is only a dream which is an imagination of ourselves. Bill Hicks
