These little guys can actually lay a slime trail *in* the water. Big tanks or those with a lot of water movement break them up, but in my no-tech planted vases, repeated trips by them will build up a network of slime paths from top to bottom, turning into super-highways for snails making the trip from bottom feeding to the surface floaters.
The pic here is from my 2.5g planted vase. The vertical lines of snails are about 2-3" in from the wall of the vase in open water.
My favorite snail move though is still the free-falling glide with their foot splayed out.
