I have a heavily planted 20G long tank...I am having problems with hair algae on the plants, mostly on the Foxtail & Hornwort, and some on the glass. I know it takes a balance between ferts, light, and C02 to keep algae in check. I need everyones help in finding out what may inbalance is.
Water: PH 6.9, KH 3, C02 14ppm, nitrate/nitrite 0, phos 0.1-1.5, iron 0.1
C02: Natural plant system by Nutrafin
Temp: 76 degrees, weekly water changes of 3G
Light: JBJ PC light w/6500k bulb on for 10 hours daily
Filter: Fluval 204, I use phos-guard & algone to help with the algae
Fish: 3 spiketail guaramies, 2 endlers, 2 rams, 2 corys, 1 algae eater, 4
amano shrimp...Feed small amounts 1-3 times daily.
Ferts: Kent grow 4 drops dailey, Seachem trace 1 1/2cc daily, Seachem
tabs for the substarte every three months
I have read that you need to keep C02 between 20-30ppm, is this correct. If so mine is low at 14ppm. My algae problem is not out of hand as of yet but I am afraid it will be if I don't get that balance I need. Any suggestions welcomed.
