I run an airpump for about 20 minutes at night...

I see the tank walls immediate to the airstone are covered in green dot algae.

The other walls have little.

Does O2 promote that kind of algae ??

If algae and plants respire (aka breathe O2) continuously...

wouldnt the area around the airstone be a better breeding ground for algae to grow ??

There are many many algae on this planet, and many conditions that one or the other species or variety will like. If you look at different types of water bodies, you will find algae in all of them. Fast flowing, oxygen rich rivers as well as stagnant, stinking pools. So you should not generalize and conclude that high oxygen levels promote algae growth, just that in your case the conditions in your tank near the airstone are favorable for one kind of them.

Reading Kasselman's book makes it sound like oxygen-rich makes the plants grow even better....

and it helps the fishies...
