Horrible White Goo Growing on Everything
I have a 5 gallon 78 degree filtered heated betta tank with some anubias plants. For 5 months, it was fine, cycled, and was great. Suddenly, this awful slime began to appear. At first just little chunks on the gravel I mistook for mulm, but now it is just awful. It grows on EVERYTHING - plant leaves gravel, the glass, and it also killed my tank cycle by completely by engulfing the entire interior of my filter and cartridges (in complete darkness) in a 1/3 inch layer of gelatin-like goo, resulting in an ammonia spike from none to 8 ppm in 2 days. PLEASE, I need to get rid of this slime but I have no idea what it is! It's just a menace. It's not an algae because it grows in darkness, but I have nowhere better to post it.
