Need help preventing another BGA attack
I'm new here and relatively new to planted tanks. I am currently treating one of my tanks for BGA using erythromycin. I understand that this anti-biotic will kill my cycle so I want to start over and do it right. Below I will list the specs for the tank and I would greatly appreciate any advice to keep this BGA infestation from happening again!
Tank: 10 gal. divided with two bettas
Filter: sponge filter
Plants: foxtail, baby tears, anubias, dwarf sword, crystalwort
Lighting: Aquaglo 15 watt/ 18000K for 10 hrs/day
Substrate: regular gravel mixed with laterite
Husbandry: 25% water changes twice a week
Established: 2.5 months
Ferts: Seachem flourish root tabs, Seachem flourish comprehensive (just used a few times - not sure how much to use because of the algae)
Parameters (usually): amm.0, nitrite 0, nitrate between 0 and 5ppm, ph 7.5, kh 3, gh 7.
All of my other tanks are fine with my practices but something is definitely wrong with this one. I'm hoping that you experts can help me create the right balance.
Thanks so much for looking!
