10G Shrimp/Danio Planted

Setup my 10G as a Danio/Shrimp planted. Have 6 Celestial Pearl Danios in right now, shrimp to come.

What substrate is that? Is it dirted as well?
Looks a bit cloudy, not sure if from dust of the substrate or ammonia leaching from the substrate. Just keep an eye on the ammonia levels to be safe.

And you might want a sponge prefilter for your Hang On Back filter if you plan to keep baby shrimplets (makes a great food spot as well).

The substrate is AquaVitro Aquasolum. It's not online and only sold in stores. I like it so far, and my buddy, who owns the LFS, has used it in many shrimp tanks and "has seen growth like never before."

It was cloudy as I just setup the tank. It is much clearer today. I will try to snap a new pic when I am home for lunch. As for the HOB. I have a regular carbon filter, purigen and ceramic. Planning on switching out the Carbon Filter for sponge/filter floss when the shrimp go in.

Good looking out though!

Some leftover food is all, still getting used to how little these tiny danios eat!

Looks good! It really is crazy how little the fish, and the shrimp will eat. I've been gone on trips for a week at a time and I don't bother with getting someone to feed them!
