3 new nanos

I bought myself the Petco Arc 3.7 gallon tank and then I won an Evolve 4 and Marineland 3 gallon Silhouette at a raffle!

I haven't set any of them up yet. I hope to start them this weekend. Each will house a pair of killies, and will be very low tech with low light plants.

I like the clean look and all-glass build of the Petco Arc the most. The Marineland Silhouette's half-moon plastic stand and lid looks a bit odd to me, but I like the way it appears to "float." The Evolve has a clean look. The lid is not as classy as the two former tanks.

The Petco Arc 3.7 is set up. I must say that the pump/tube is a pain to install. The back compartment it goes into is small, and it was constantly falling apart as I bumped my not-that-huge-hand around the glass. It took me awhile to get it in place.

The pump is fairly quiet. This decibel-rating app on my cell phone registered about 54 decibels right next to the aquarium, which is considered "average quiet street." At an arm's length, it registered 46 decibels, aka "average quiet home."

Substrate is sand with root tabs. Plants flame moss, include crypts in the back, one bolbitis, dwarf sag and one little. I just set it up, so it's a little cloudy. Future fish: a pair of australe killies.

Evolve 4 is up. This pump is loud and the outflow is super strong. I haven't turned down the flow, though. Future home of nothobranchius rachovii pair.

I had the ARC, took it back for a larger cube, and wasn't happy with the light, but it was a nice tank to be sure.

It is the weakest light of the three nanos. I'm not a fancy plant keeper, but even for pure aesthetics the light is weak. The Marineland has the nicest light. Its blue moonlight is awesome with the other two's moonlights are very dim.
