Hi everyone. Long term reader, short term poster here
Thought I might start a journal of my little planted tank I am in the process of working on:
: 36 litre (~10 gallons)
: Aqua World rimless tank
: Daltons Aquatic mix (fertilizer) and black sand (from our NZ beaches) on top
: Home made hood, with 4 x 23watt energy saver bulbs
: Black plastic
: tiny Elite in-tank filter that I use as a CO2 dispensor as well as a filter
: DIY bottle, Flourish Excell when I remember
PMDD (haven't started dosing it yet, too busy)
: Several random rocks the LFS gave me. Have been hunting for good rocks for ages. Might go to where they sourced these and get more/different ones, so consider this hardscape temporary
: at the moment, only glosso. Hairgrass should be arriving any day now. Not sure what else yet.
: 6 guppies at the moment as tank is still cycling. Unsure whether they will stay or not. Haven't decided what I'd like in there yet. I would like to have khulis as they'd love the sand, but glosso needs to be well rooted, otherwise they'll toss it all up I think. Otos if need be. Was thinking maybe a pair of gold rams...
Some photos for you:
Tank empty, with hood. Isn't it pretty. I'm lucky I have a handy partner
Layer of Daltons Aquatic mix:
Added the sand, plus a little water:
And set up with rocks and glosso:
Oh, and will be getting a bit more sand one day soon so I will be adding a little more to the back to give it more slope.
I love it when they are all perfect and empty like this (ie, no heater, filter etc). Next post I'll show some updated pics
