Hey guys setting up a Little Shimp tank trying to decide on a decent carpet plant, no Co2 just excel and 8 hours of med-high light. what would you suggest i was thinking Dwarf Hairgrass or Java moss
For shrimp best to go with moss for carpet. Hair grass won't grow awesome without co2. It will, but takes forever. I use moss in my tanks, Anubias, Java Ferns, works great for me.
You do want moss somewhere in the tank, but another foreground option might be marselia, either minuta or another variety. I have a minuta foreground in my own 12", and while it hasn't started to really carpet yet, I do love the way it looks. Shrimp seem to appreciate it as well.
