What aquaclear for a 7 gallon cube?

It's about 12 inches on each side, and will house shrimp...

Would an aquaclear 20 or 30 be better (with a pre-filter).

I know you can turn the flow down, but my other aquaclear is more noisy when dialed down.

Thoughts?

I'd go with a 50. I have a 30 on a mini S (3 gallon) and it's perfect.

I have an Aquaclear 20 on a 9G cube and it does a lovely job. Pretty strong current as well, the much bigger filters I'd worry would be too much current.

You can always swap impellers to ramp up or down flow. I'd go with at least a 30 so you have more 3 media options. Then you can add a bag of purigen if you wanted.

Agree with using a 30 - A 50 might be a bit too strong a flow for a 7 gal shrimp tank.

I have an AC30 on my 7.5g tank and it works great. It has great flow on low.

18g (Red Cherry Neo Shrimp | Malawa Shrimp)
7.5g (Yellow Neo Shrimp)
3.2g (Pumpkin Neo Shrimp)
2g (Snails)
11.4g (new home soon for the Pumpkin Neos)
