Just a question about crystal red shrimp and PH...

'ello all! I have a 5 gallon which is going to be a heavily planted nano tank, and I am trying to determine what will be the permanent occupant(s) of the tank. I really like how crystal red shrimp look, but I've heard that they do not appreciate high PH AT ALL. Is my area's 7.8 PH high enough to cross them off the option list? Anyone with experience with shrimp able to chime in on this?

crystal red need low ph. most of the time not higher than a ph of 6.5. there are several colors of "cherry" shrimp now they might be ok.

With a tank that small just buy Distilled/RO/DI water and add some mineral up. With a tank that small it will get you the values you desire with a Ph reducing substrate (Aquasoil, Stratum, Brightwell, Akadama). Far easier then fighting a High Ph (and TDS) tap water. We have the same issue here in Houston, its liquid rock
