Hey guys! New to the forum but most definitel. Not to freshwater or saltwater tanks my current aquarium is the little Nuvo 4gal atm. I did have a saltwater but it was too big to come with us when we moved recently. I do want to start another though! In my current little pico, I have LOTS of cherry and snowball shrimp along with 7 white cloud mountain minnows. Fully planted! The names of plants I'm not good with though lol this pic is a bit of an older one. I no longer have a betta or rasboras and the plants are more grown than that with Wisteria in the back right corner. I'll update the pic later on. Don't have a recent one on my phone.
Here's an update pic of the tank. Taken today. I have a Kessil A350 lighting the plants LMAO! Huge over-kill, I know lol I have the Kessil tuned way down to about 20% lol keeps the reds and purple in the plants well lol only reason I have this over the tank is cause I had to shut down my reef tank when we moved and figured "why not".... And my plants are insanely FLOURISHING! Lol I have 7 white clouds and too many cherry and snowball shrimp to count! They just keep breeding lol gotta take a bunch out.
You can see a big color change in the plants compared to the old pic. I've been using a bit more ferts too. I've had to cut back all the plants numerous times between the New and old pic. Lol. Love this tank. Believe it or not this is my first attempt at a fully planted tank. I took the knowledge of my many reef keeping years and kind of put it into freshwater (with lots of research of planted tanks as well of course) and apparently I have a good aquatic green thumb lol
Very nice plant growth, especially using that very powerful lamp. Have you considered using a more defined hardscape in this scape to give it more aesthetic complexity? Since you were in the SW world (the DARK side), sort of like using live rock to give definition and depth.
lol Ya, I know what you mean RcScRs. I've mastered aquascaping any SW aquarium... but freshwater I'm still kind of learning to scape. Before trying a fully plated tank like this, all my previous FW tanks have been fish and fake plants and rocks... and this tank being so small, I don't really know how to quite scape it.
