Thinking of starting a 2.5G planted tank once i finish cycling my 25g
Diy fixture cfl swirl bulb 9watts
sponge filter? or what kind of filter?
will i need a heater? or will the bulb heat up the water?
miracle gro organic leftovers
how much shrimp can i fit in there?
Depends on high up the light fixture is. It might heat the water only couple degrees F + your room temp.
I have a 5 gallon with a small sponge filter to keep the water from being stagnant (prevents mosquito larvae).
I'm not really sure about a 2.5g, but I kept about 30 shrimp in a 5g. They don't produce that much bioload and the plants should create a natural water filtration.
you can get away with a modern desk lamp with a 13W or 23W CFL bulb, depending on how high off the substrate. I have a 2.5 with no filter and just a small heater. The plants are growing well and I have betta in there that is doing fine as well.
