Filter for a 12" Cube

I'm looking for recommendations for a filter for a 12" cube aquarium I recently purchased. Thinking of trying Shrimp in it and I'm not really certain what kind of filters to look at. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Shawn

Depends a lot on what shrimp and what you want to do with it.

Would be Red Cherry Shrimp and plants. No fish. Low-Med light plants. No CO2.

That help?

Just throw an HOB on it with a SS strainer. Aquaclears work well and are reliable.

I use Aquaclear 20's on my 12" cubes, painted the back of the tank black, put a black sponge on the intake, can't see the filter at all.

20g platy, , 2 x 10g shrimp, 3 x 20g shrimp, 7.5g shrimp and 1 great dane/mastiff puppy.

Frank cubitis strikes another innocent victim. I'm personally doing an Eheim 2211 with Aquatic Magic lily pipes (9mm outflow 13mm inflow, email them if you only want the 9mm outflow and not the set) on my upcoming one.

I'm going to use an AC30 on my new 12" cube I'm putting together.

I have an AC30 on my 7.5g and it does a great job. Very quiet as well.

7.5g (Yellow Neo Shrimp)
3.2g (Pumpkin Neo Shrimp)
2g (Snails)
11.4g (new home soon for the Pumpkin Neos)

If you want a canister filter, the zoomed 501 would be just about right for this tank. I have one on mines and it has just about the right amount of flow. But I might have a bit more substrate and slope than most. In the end, the tank only holds a little over 6 gallons of water.

Haha! I was thinking we are about to see a lot of cube scapes in the near future

To the OP, if you go with a canister and lily setup, you might look at the new spin to reduce flow.
