Fluval Shrimp Setup?

I have just left the Saltwater hobby by selling off my 120 reef. I want to do a small planted tank not sure if I want High tech or low.
But does anyone have one of the Fluval Shrimp Tanks or Planted tanks?
Just trying to decide between one of the Fluval set ups and a Spec V.

I want to see pictures!

I have a Fluval Ebi.. I don't like really like it.. I think the Spec V is a better option.

Fluval Shrimp Setup?

The Spec V is amazing. It'd be perfect for a shrimp tank

What don't you like about it?
I was leaning toward the Fluval for the tank size but I do like the length of the Spec V

I love my Spec V. I don't have any experience with the other.

Do you have any photo's of your Spec V setup?
& does the LED light that it comes with support high light plants?

No the LED does not. You're going to need a better light. I put the light that comes on the ebi on my spec v and so far so good

I don't like the ebi for a lot of reasons.. mainly I think it's too tall, which makes it hard to scape in such a small footprint, I didn't like the substrate, and the filter is not that great. The spec out of the box is nicer IMO.

Is your tank considered High or Low tech?
What is all included in a High Tech tank?

Erm I think it's high tech. I have pressurised co2 injection and upgraded lighting but that's about it.... Oh and a sneaky heater hid in the pump housing

Does dosing excel and other plant supplements do the same as a pressurized Co2 injector?
I actually work at the LPS but in with the saltwater section. We have a 90g planted tang and they only dose chemicals and tell people that unless you have a front the back, side to side stocked tank then Co2 is not the way to go.

I have a thread here: My Planted Fluval Spec V

Those pictures were the first day it was planted (the shrimp photos are a bit later). It has grown in VERY nicely since then. I have a dwarf sag that has shot off 6-7 babies on shoots, and the stems brush the top of the water now (a couple of them are laying across the top of the tank, I seriously need a trim!)

The light is so-so. Won't grow high light plants generally, but my stems that have grown to the top are extremely colorful that close to the light. I have very good growth, but all of my plants are low/medium light and I have probably a 15 - 18 hour light cycle because I haven't bothered with a timer.

There is at least one small mod that needs to be made to the Spec V to cover a "safety intake" near the bottom of the tank, or it's a shrimp-killer. But it's a simple mod, and there are 9,000 ways to accomplish it.
