Planning a Mini M - Need advice

Hi all,

Planning to start a Mini M and I wanted to get some opinions on equipment.

What I have:
- Archaea 27W

What I plan to buy:
- Mini M (duh!)
- Eheim 2211
- GLA Lily Pipes
- GLA paintball reg (the one with a solenoid)
- Some sort of inline diffuser

What I'm wondering:
- Will the 27W be enough for HC to thrive, or should I step up?
- Will the 2211 be powerful enough with an inline diffuser? I plan to be all fancy and set everything up below the tank.

Thanks!

I think the bulb will be good enough if not too powerful, as it's rated 7,200 K at 27w (a lot of wattage for such a small tank).

What about heating?

How I feel about non-planted aquariums.

Sounds like a good plan, I don't think the diffuser will slow the flow very much, probably not noticeable.

I'd prefer an inline set up, possibly DIY? This is something I hadn't thought much about yet because I figured my place's ambient temperature will be sufficient.

I have my Mini-M on DSM right now in my office as well. The temp in the office is set to 70F. The heater I got is
this one this one
. It's pretty small and can hide behind my driftwood. Also, what reflector will you be using for your bulb? I went with the 16" Fugeray.

the archaea 27w is perfect for a mini M. It's the same one used in the ADA light, but it doesn't come with any sort of reflector. At least it's adjustable so you can lower the light if you need to.

Re: Planning a Mini M - Need advice

A 2211 would need to be choked down in a mini m anyways. Why not do inline heater and a cheaper do! Aqua diffuser? That way you get both and dont need to worry about seeing a bulky diffuser or heater in tank.

A 2211 will be fine. Might have to slow it down a little but I have a 2213 on my Mini M and love it. Yes I have to reduce my speed a little but my water is always crystal clear. Just remember to have the inflow set to wide open and reduce the flow on the outflow side.

Cool, so inline heater and diffuser will actually help bring me closer to where I oughta be.

I was just planning on using it as is I suppose. Unless down the line it seems to not be enough. Good to hear that it is the same light though.
