1 gallon planted shrimp and snails

I turned my old betta tank into a 1 gallon planted tank with a small 13watt CF attached to it. i have a 12 ghost shrimps, 1 cherry shrimp and several snails. I want to breed the shrimps and snails so i can feed them to my figure 8. Any suggestions? Should I dose? Do you think my light is over kill?

I am in the process of planning the same thing - a tank that is pretty much a food factory for my puffers

What kind of snails are you doing?

Yea my plan was to feed my puffers the MTS but then I learned they are too hard
So, I'm gonna do a 2.5g tank just to farm snails and maybe shrimp! I wonder what else could grow in there that the puffers might eat?

I have two pea puffers in a Fluval Ebi. They are so awesome.

I don't think you have to dose, but i'd probably get some real substrate in there instead of just marbles. Unless the plants aren't the true purpose of this tank (which is true, right?)... in which case, I'd just grab some floating stuff and use that. guppy grass comes to mind. Also, you'll probably want to raise the lamp off the surface of the water a bit. I do think it's a little over kill especially since you're not dosing or anything. I'd take out that elodea. looks kinda dead.

You can use a sea monkey (brine shrimp) kit and feed them those!

thanks for the advice. i took out the anacharis and left the healthy shoots and just got a 2 gallon instead. i completely changed it up with baby tears and glosso. i'll update a pic as soon as the dirt settles.
