so just got a plant package today, and i have a bunch of extra plants im not going to use in my other tanks. i have b. pennywort, water wisteria, a few nodes of marsilea sp?, an unkown moss, and an unkown stem ( ill identify them later)
what should i do with these? i dont have any tanks for the to go in. so i was thinking a planted bowl or jar or something. im open to ideas. i have a nice bowl, but i tried that before and all i got was algae.
so what should i do? i want it to be low tech/ maintenance. for light i have a shelf with t12,s ( up to 4 bulbs if needed) that i can use however cloes to the substrate as i need. i have PFS for substrate. and i dont have a heater or filter. i dont have to have to use a filter ( on second though, i have a tiny whisper sponge filter type thing, if i must use it ) and i shouldnt need a heater, at least not yet, room temp will be warm enough.
what do you think? ideas? any ideas on how to make this not turn into an algae-palooza?
Use a small tool or something, I have many small jars just laying around.
You could do soil layer with rocks on it, that would work.
Toothpicks, nail-files, toothbrushes, there are many things you could use.
i thought about raok'ing it, but i dont have time to go to the post office. and if i sent them out again ( i just got this package, mind you ) they probably wouldnt survive. i have to nurse them back to health first. then we will see. i'll probably raok the pennywort.
i planted each different species in a different mason jar. i used a chopstick to plant it. they are under t12s now.
does anyone have any hints tips/101 for keeping plants in jars?
