ThinkGeek USB Fishquarium for $39.99

Sorry mods if this isnt an appropriate area for this thread. Feel free to move.

Just an FYI, www.thinkgeek.com has a 1/2 galloon desktop tank available. The link is here:

http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/u...cj&ref=&CJURL=

I'm not sure that its the best tank for any type of nano setup (reef or planted) but might be something interesting for someone into bettas or wanting something for the office. At $39.99 its not exactly a killer deal, but its not exactly a wallet buster either. It has a desk clock, supply cup (for pens, pencils, etc) and of course the tank itself and is powered off the USB of your computer.

Didn't know if this would interest anyone or not, but thought I would post it anyway.

I don't think it's right to keep a beta in 1/2 gallon of water. Maybe 5 rcs.

I'd be worried about heating it in the wintertime b/c it's so small. It's hard enough keeping my 2.5g at a good temp.

I totally agree - no good for any fish I know of. Also, the picture shows the temperature as being in the 90s - maybe not such a good heater?

And TBH, I also wouldn't buy it because it advertises with a picture of goldfish in it; I don't want to support a product like that.

What product doesn't advertise like that?

The only thing I would keep in such a tank would be some shrimp and snails. But the shrimp probably wouldn't live long anyway.

You might as well stop buying products from fluval, top fin, perfecto and the rest of the major tank manufacturers that sell in the US.

This isn't a "serious" tank. It is a novelty, just like the rest of their usb powered toys.

THey have some fun stuff, though!

i love how their suggested fish are a betta and a couple of white-cloud minnows. They probably meant to write half a cloud minnow.

I don't buy products that are geared towards misuse. For example, I don't buy fish bowls, because even though you could just do a planted nano with a couple of shrimp, they're always shown with a cold, bored, cramped, poisoned betta.

Just what you need.. water over your PC. It will cost you a whole lot more than 39.99 if you dump a pitcher of water down onto your computer....
