Question Goldfish Lifespan?

What is the expected lifespan of a goldfish? My largest pond goldfish is around a decade old now.

May 3 2002, the oldest picture of her I can find at the moment:

And today May 3, 2009 (Amazing the improvement from a newer camera):

I tried to get roughly the same angle so you can see it's the same pattern/fish.

Currently kept with 35ish others in a 1500 gal (8' x 8' x 3') above ground outdoor pond planted with pots of a local variety of yellow water lilies. Two Pentair Quiet One 4000 pumps (990gph) feeding a pair of 55gal drums with mesh sacks of lava rock in them and a tetra PF3 pond filter.

Original stock came from 100 feeder goldfish very many years ago. Now I regularly get babies and haven't added any new fish in years.

Woah that's big. Are you sure it's not a Koi?

The oldest Goldfish ever was around 42 years old. With proper care, yours should live for maybe 20 or so more years.

I don't have problems with predators with my rottweiler guarding the pond. (If I do they are getting less fish out than the fish are replacing, lol) Also, the entire pond is 3 feet deep, making it much more difficult for anything to reach the fish.

I'm 100% sure it's not a Koi, if it was you'd be able to see her barbels in the second picture. Although she's certainly big enough (I'd guess about 12" with tail but she won't hold still for the tape measure)

Thanks for all the responses and answers, good to know she's only just reached middle age.
