Talking gourami pictures!

I rescued this guy from petco. They had him in a tank with rainbow sharks! He had absolutely no color, just all gray. It's been about 5 months now and he is easily one of my favorite fish. Very active and so colorful!

I'd like to see some of you guys gouramis, any species. I'm really taking an interest in them and thinking of breeding them.

I've got three thick lips right now. Great little fish, they don't bother anyone, come to the tank front when I walk into the room.

I raised this gorgeous pearl gourami. Loved that guy. When he was about 5 yrs old I went from a 55 to a 60 Oceanic (much better dimensions). During the switchover I had put him in a 3.5 gallon bowl and then there was a minor bathtub overflow/kid thing that happened upstairs. Went upstairs to get things under control, came back down about 10-15 min later and he wasn't in the bowl.

I freaked out and looked all over- found him in the dining room on the floor with his little half-dry body half curled around a chair leg bottom. I grabbed him and threw him in the bowl and SWISHED him around real fast. He came back to life- and because of him I waited for 5 more years (till he passed away, naturally) to convert that 60 to salt.

He was probably my favorite fish of all time.

Going to set up a big 4ft chocolate gourami species tank in the next few weeks. They're easily among my favorite fish

This is my girl. I've had her for about 3 years and she's become one of my favorites. She's got tons of personality and is so hardy. She loves chasing other fish, so I added a couple of danios to keep her from bugging my ram and peacock gudgeon. Now she spends most of her day chasing and being chased by the danios. I love watching her use her little feelers(?) to explore and study new fish/decorations in the tank - it's fascinating.

Kelsier I thought the orange on the pearl gouramis meant it was a male? Maybe mine is a female then.

Nice gouramis every one! I really like the thick lipped ones! I've never seen one in the stores around where I live.

I had 5 dwarfs in my old 29 gallon tank when I started it up last year. They were the center piece fish in the tank when I had them. Two of them died from the other fish picking on them and being stressed out. I gave the 3 survivors to a friend when I moved.

Point is, they are great fish, but don't let them get too crowded, they can be territorial.
