I just recently did a search on cardinal tetras and I came across some articles that said they are now not as likely to be wild caught in your lfs...it appears that they are now commercially bred thus making more robust and beautiful specimens...just wanted to share the good news woohoo!

Yes, there are a couple of companies who have developed products that will induce spawning in just about anything... 1 of them is South African actualy, it was designed to help save some fish from extintion here, as well as to help commercial fish farming.

Cape Town, South Africa.

Hi. I'm back.

Oh quite a few species of pseudobarbus (sandfish) etc... My favourite being the Bergriver Rooivlerkie (sandfish in english, although the Afrikaans name is the diminutive form of red wing, kinda like little red wing), Pseudoarbus Berghi, I used to keep a few of these as we lived litteraly next to the river, my folks still stay there.

Some years ago bass and trout were introduced into our rivers which totaly destroyed some species in certain small habitats. The the idiots introduced blue gill as a food fish for the bass, guess what the blue gill also eats our fishies...

i'm guessing it's something that makes the water both softer and low ph..... don't cardinals love a ph of like 6 or even 5?? i can't do that....but i hope they are adaptable right????? i've seen tanks where they are ina ph of 8 and the hardness is 10 ....i'm guessing that they need time to adapt to this ....????

That must be why Cardinals are only selling for 50 cents more than Neons. Anyone know a good flake food for Cardinals?
