CPD's Question

Is 3.5g fully planted too small for these fish? I have 4 in a 12.5 fully planted and hardly ever see them. Thinking about moving them but don't want to be cruel.
cheers,

big o

That should be ok, but CPD's are quite shy fish as you already know, and if your smaller tank is planted too, you may still not see them very much - lol

I had a small group in a 6g and honestly felt like i was pushing the limit.

If you want your CPDS to be out and active you need a "dither fish" or atleast it was what did the trick for me.
Added some ruby tetras that wasnt shy and suddenly the CPDs where out and about all the time. This is in a 16gal though.

I accidentally might have stunted the growth of a fry in a 5 Gallon!! I would not do less than a 10 gallon with them. Also you need to add to your school/shoal, the min. number of these guys is at least 6 -12. The more you have the better they show themselves. Try adding a Dither fish, I use Neon Tetras (little pigs!). Also try adding floating plants, they don't like harsh light.

Cool, great info. I guess I'll leave them and add more. There really hard to find and very expensive in my book.
Thanks everyone,
