Male Guppies Reproduce Even After Death

http://ucrtoday.ucr.edu/15806

The female guppy can store sperm for upto 10 months, and give birth to offspring long after the male guppy is out of the picture.

Have an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out.

Think outside the glass box.

I always knew that they could store sperm but never realized they could do it for almost a year.

Ain't guppies great! The female can give birth up to 50 or more fry. Also livebearers like platies, guppies, swordtails, and mollies all have sperm pockets in which they can store sperm for months.

I'm not sure if Halfbeaks store sperm, but I do know that they are more reproductive in their first year, and as they get older they become less reproductive or give birth to smaller batches of fry.
