I have several Brochis splendens that I purchased thinking they were cories. They are usually sold at chain stores and some LFS as "Emerald Green Corydoras" or just "Emerald Cory." The proper common name is "Emerald (Green) Catfish" as they are not really a corydoras.
They are significantly larger than the corydoras once fully grown and have 10-12 dorsal rays instead of 5-7 on the corydoras. Otherwise, they look very similar, although I have to admit the brochis is a more impressive looking fish due to their larger body and longer dorsal fins. My brochis hang out with the other cories in my tank and they even school around together occasionally.
If you have a larger tank, I'd go with the emerald catfish (brochis). For smaller tanks, the green laser cory is maybe a better choice.
