Jack Dempsey is lazy?

My new jack Dempsey is lazy. He sits on the floor all day. He's eating fine and looks healthy as can be but he just hides in my plants on the floor. Is this normal?

Agreed- my friend had a Jack Dempsey and thats all he did. He lived to be like 7 or something like that, so no worries. Unless he starts refusing food, I wouldn't worry.

Yeah agreed its normal plus it looks very young. Once he grows, and he'll grow fast he'll prob attack his/her tank mates. You'll see activity then lol

I'm not into the image, but into the hobby...

Yeah, cichlids will be cichlids. They do as they please, much like people.

My parents had one that grew to 13 inches and lived to be almost 15 years old. I think that's a bit on the large size for a jack, as most sources say 8-10 inches. Really cool fish. He lived in a 90 gallon and killed anything we tried to introduce to the tank. He would just chill on the bottom like yours as well until feeding time. I know a lot are opposed to feeder fish, but we maintained a guppy farm to keep him fed.
