Recommendations on very colorful fish?

I keep and breed shrimp and often have culls that I would feel better about putting back into the chain of life.

My wife is up for the idea of a display tank with fish, but

1) the fish have to be extremely colorful

2) be peaceful enough to be kept with several of it's colorful kind (that leaves bettas out)

3) kept in a 10g or 20g long

Ideas or suggestions would definitely be welcome!

male guppies, rams or any apisto would be good for a 20 long and be good for shrimp eating

I vote for apistos. There are some beautiful color combos.

+1 for rams and apistos. My gold rams are extremely vibrant. I didn't know they could be so nicely colored.

I'd go with rams myself. You should be able to put a few in a 20L and they have great personality.

I'm going to ask in a separate thread about apistogramma cacatuoides, so I don't muck this one up.

A betta sorority is another possibility, especially if you are going with a smaller tank.

Thought about that. Am I able to include 1 male with them?

Edit: I did a quick search and see many people have problems and wind up with separate tanks for aggressive fems. Can't do that one.

Recommendations on very colorful fish?

I would personally get a pair of rams, or else a pair of apistos (cacs or agassazii) - if you want something a little outside the box - 5 or 6 dwarf neon rainbows would look good in a tank that size, and i feed mine shrimp regularly (as adults) - also, some Botia loach of mine love shrimp - perhaps three Botia in the tank to eat the shrimp plus a school of cardinal tetra would look nice -

Just trying to throw a couple of out-of-the-box ideas...

Check out the dario dario. Beautiful and very small. You could get a school for a 20g.

If you like betta's, there's other options besides the common splendens. I kept a group of Betta channoides in a 20L for while, even had babies. They have a dark red color with fins edged in black and white. I'm sure they'll love your shrimp culls.
