Rainbow fish needs help

I am not sure why this male rainbow is losing scales - acting normally otherwise - eating, swimming, showing off for females etc. I have been using melafix and pimafix and it hasn't gotten worse but hasn't really gotten any better either - any ideas?

Are there any other males to fight with? He could have lost the scales in a fight.

My roommate says I'll die by giant turtle.
