Question Will 5 Cory Sterbai survive 2-3 days during shipping?

Hi guys, I ordered 5 Cory Sterbai from a supplier in Southern California. The supplier sent the fish through Priority Mail which usually takes 2-3 days to ship. Will they survive being shipped from SoCal to VA? I asked for a heat pack since it is snowing in my zone and it's around 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Thanks!

It's certainly possible, but I'm pretty sure you'll have significant losses. But you never know.

depends on if the seller knows what they are doing when shipping corrys. cories releas a chemical when stressed that can kill them. so if they sell alot of cories you should be fine. if it was just some one trying to thin out a group you might not do to well. as for the shipping its self again if the person has shipped before chances are they will be fine. most of the time you will have good luck. i ship all kinds of fish and shrimp all over the country with priority and only had a couple losses in all the years ive been shipping.

It is doubtful that he will have any losses. Shipping cross country is no big deal. I've shipped from Florida when it was 85 out to Washington state using priority and had no losses.

If your package is well insulated, bags are prepared correctly, and USPS doesn't do something absurdly stupid you will be fine. A great number of us rely on priority shipping and have little to no deaths. If shipping were an issue there would be no online vendors for fish and sites like aquabid would not prosper

Well at least some of you have had luck with priority. I've not had any luck with it for anything other than shrimp/plants, especially from the west coast (I'm in NY).

Good to know though for future reference. Please keep us updated as I'm currently looking at a possible SoCal vendor.

Of course I'll update, I always get packages from USPS. They are always prompt and they always take back packages when they require a signature. Never had a bad experience. I should get the package around Wednesday or Thursday.

Whoa, did not know that, is the chemical harmful to other cories?

Wow that was fast, great to hear! I was eagerly waiting to see how it turned out. I figured it'd be Thursday delivery being cross country. Hoping I get the same results in Upstate NY. I have my eyes on some emerald tetras but didn't want to spend overnight shipping on them. Never knew so many people were having success with long distance priority. Oh the possibilities now
