German Blue Rams had their first spawn!

I came home from a 4H workshop yesterday to find my little pair of Petsmart Rams had spawned on the driftwood! Only two of the eggs have turned white so far, and they are doing an amazing job of not eating the eggs and guarding the eggs and keeping the area cleaned up.
Even if this spawn isn't successful, I know there are lots more to come!
Since I know I have a mated pair, I am thinking of setting up their own 15 or 10 gallon tank with lots of plants so they can spawn and raise fry in piece. My LFS would take them because every time they import Rams, they never make it. She said if anyone bred Rams locally, she would take them. So I won't have 100 tank filled with rams

I'll keep you guys updated, hopefully I'll get a few fry!!

Where in Washington state do you live I also have a pair of blue's that spawned but alas they ate the eggs, hoping to get another successful spawn. I have not talked to my local Pet Smart but I also hope to sell the some later on.

I used to keep an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

My first GBR spawn (last weekend) didnt last a single night. I think my Amano shrimp had a little midnight snack. Good luck with yours.

I am so excited Now I know I need to put up another tank for them to breed in Thinking a 20L with a small school of hatchet fish and a few Oto's. Those fish should be easy to chase away.
I Picked out some good fishy parents! lol

You definitely got a good set of parents. It's not often the first spawn makes it to wigglers. What are you going to feed the fry?

No kidding! Once the eggs start to shake it's the parents cue to get hungry. You're lucky.

I know, I am so proud
The wigglers are so tiny, so now that they are in the gravel, I can't see them! It's going to make me go crazy to wait and see if I get any free swimmers.

If I get any free swimmers, I am going to feed crushed up flakes, then after a week chop up blood worms really fine, along with hard boiled egg yoke and a little bit of pea.

I'll try and find the camera cord so I can get some pictures, but I think my puppy ate it >
Otherwise I have to use an iPod, but maybe I can use the big camera... I'll have to try that.
