Are large neon tetras hardier than small ones?

I want to add a small school (~8) of small neon tetras to my 20 gallon tall, but I've heard a lot about easily they die after being added to aquariums. My LFS sells small and large (mature?) neon tetras. I'm wondering if the large will be hardier than the small ones. Can anyone chime in?

I'm sure the larger ones would be a little hardier since they are older and not as delicate. Although, that doesn't mean they are going to live. I've had large and small tetras die on me. I think your best bet is to ask how long they have been there. One of the fish stores I use doesn't sell any tetras, or any delicate fish for 1 week after they arrive. Make sure your tank is cycled since tetras are so damn delicate.
