Furcata rainbowfish finally spawned

My furcata rainbowfish finally decided to start spawning. Now I get to check the mop every day for a couple weeks. I set up a 2 1/2 gallon for the eggs with a couple mops. Now the waiting game begins. Any suggestions on what temp to keep the tank at?

Re: Furcata rainbowfish finally spawned

Research states 24 to 26 c pretty strictly since their habitual waters have very stable water temps.

There is a good discussion on Rainbow-fish.org regarding the breeding of these. Congratulations. There spawning window is short. so get as many babies out of your adults you can!

Very cool. I love these little yellow guys! I have Pseudomugil gertrudae in my tank at the moment

I had to chose between the two actually. I got them from lotsoffish on aquabid. He lives by me and we trade stuff all the time. He always seems to forget I don't have 80 tanks like he does. I have to go over this week. Who knows what I'll come home with. Lol!

I wish mine did this! I have a lot of rainbowfish and I have not gotten them to spawn yet. I think might set up a tank later on strictly to breed them. They are my favorite fish! Congrats and good luck!

That was my next step. I was going to put them in a 2 1/2 gallon tank with one mop only so they can only lay eggs there. That's how lotsoffish gets them to breed sometimes.
