My favorite as of late, is the white fin ornatus tetra (some wholesalers still call them the HY-511 tetra). From what I read, they were discovered only a few years ago. I have 15 in a 125 right now, but I'm in the process of cleaning it up, and relocating some fish in there. I plan on getting another 24-36 in the next few months. Beautiful red bodies with white, black and gold highlights on them.

#2. Black Phantoms. If you keep a proper group, the are stunning.

#3. Lemon Tetras. Again, in the proper set up they are awesome looking.

#4 Diamond Tetras. A medium/Large tetra that isn't really colorful, but their scales sparkle like a piranha, they have a bright red eye, and the males fins are large and great looking.

125g semi planted. 2 silver angels, 14 silver tips, 16 white fin ornatus tetras, pair of Nicaraguense, pair of nototus severums, trio of firemouth cichlids. 2 FX5s, 1 1500gph circ pump, 2 48" LED lighs, and a HUGE piece of driftwood.

650g fish room. 15 30g tanks, 150g sump.

Gold tetras. Stay small and school well. I have 6, and they look great against a black background. My males recently developed a red spot on their tail and blue tipped fins, so I'm a bigger fan than before.

20 gal dirted community, 20 long Vietnamese mudskippers, 40 gal tanganyikan cichlids, 55 gal South American cichlids

Re: What's your favorite tetra?

Exodon tetra are my favorite. They're seem to only be suitable with a species only tank. They chase and eventually kill/injure everything else.

Ruby.. I love Ruby tetras, Axelrodia riesei. I wish so much that I was able to get my hands on some back when I was stocking my 10

Roberts tetras are another beautiful looking tetra, I have seen stores around me selling them under the name of candy cane tetra.

Head and tail light tetras are pretty sweet. decent schooling fish, too.

rummy nose tetras are awesome schooling fish.

even though I've never owned them, columbian tetras have nice colors and a big school of them looks pretty striking.

I like the colors on glowlight tetras, but I think they're kind of boring personality wise.
