What would you recommend? Tank is 6ft x 2 x 2
I already have some bala sharks, and was thinking clown loaches?
What do you think of those and what else would you add?

Bala sharks.... not much else, they'll eat anything else that would school and could fit in their mouths. i'd say just the clown loaches

Thats fine -I like the balas
I was thinking maybe some fully grown congo tetras...I have a 75g growout tank for them when they're too small for the balas

Clown loaches dig a lot. How about a pair of larger cichlids that doesn't dig (Laetacara thayeri, EBJD, or the like)?

In general cichlids will redecorate your tanks (plants as they see fit. My common, wild caught, and blue gene jack dempseys will destroy plants or just move them from time to time. That being said I haven't seen my electric blues mess with the plants like the others do. If you get one under 2.5 inches I would keep it alone until it reaches at least that size. They are prone to more things like internal parasites. I would def keep the appropriate meds on hand if you are going to put them in with other fish before they reach the above mentioned size.

The pictus don't get big enough to keep with the balas.

redhead sevrums (heros rotkiel) would do fine with the balas as long as they were similarly sized

yeah a serverum would be great in that size tank. BUT if it is planted the serverum will eat all the plants in time. They are not plant friendly I feed mine plant clippings he is 4 years old and 8".

A school of 6 angles would be awesome in a large planted tank. or discus.

I had a school of congo tetras with Bala's in the past. Also in the tank were clown loach, Albino Kribs, angels, orange chromide, synodontis angelicus catfish, new guinea red rainbows and boesmani rainbows. Everyone played well together and no issues. Bala's didnt bother anything. The tank was large, 135 gallon, but not planted. Bala's in my experience are docile and I have never had an issue with them, even with small fish. They are non aggressive. Only issue was being nervous and jumpy.
