Mine have consistently tried to breed, but snails are eating the eggs.
Is there decor I could add to their benefit? I've tried the ceramic ashtray on substrate, but other snals/otos/cories seem to get to it.
Some sort of raised vase with an ashtray on top?
breed in a snail free tank. didn't think of that one, did you? once the fry are swimmin' round the snails shouldn't be a problem. find a spot for a 10 gallon. I don't know much about snails, would they try to cross something as prickly as velcrow, or pipe cleaners wrapped around the base of your ash tray? Your problem is the exact reason most people isolate their fish when it's time for them to get busy. "you fish go get a bowl!"
my 55 gallon has ottos (dont bother the eggs), corys (they eat the eggs), clown loaches (they eat the eggs even with my hand inside the tank next to them trying to get them out of the area, and MTS (they eat the eggs)
Snail free, breeding tank is the only way for you.
