Hi i have 30 gal hexagon tank
filter- eheim 2217
UV sterilizer 36w
can i have extra 2 angel fish in tank-and can i breed them or tank is to small?
I wouldn't put angelfish in a Hexagon tank. The height is good, but the footprint of that tank is too small in my opinion. I'll be honest, I've never liked the hexagon shape for a fish tank. There is too much refraction with so many panes of glass. It's like living inside of a carnival fun house.
If you want angels, I would recommend you get a standard 45 gallon or larger rectangular tank.
a 29 is ok for a pair but i wouldnt put other fish with them. alot of breeders will house single pairs in 29 for breeding. with angels you need tall tanks so their fins dont grow bent. if you want pairs you can start with several young fish but might have to start pulling them if they get really territorial and as they start to pair up.
I wouldn't put angels in a hex tank. Maybe if it were really big it might be ok. I've never understood why people insist angels need tall tanks. Standard tank heights are fine for them and in fact better than a tall tank with no possibility of horizontal movement. Their fins end up bent due to water quality issues not tank height.
A hex tank is a problem because they'd have nowhere to swim and would essentially be still all the time. Angels aren't going to swim the height of hex tank the way other fish might.
