Angelfish question

I'm getting a 40 breeder (actually ~48 gallons) soon, and I want to make it a community tank. How many Angels can be accommodated? Thanks!

angels wouldnt be my first choice for a breeder tank cause they need tall tanks for their fins. my angels fins from top to bottom are a good 10 to 12 inches right now and mine are on the small side so that would only leave 5 ro 7 inches in hight in the tank for them to grow. it can be done but the dorsal might get bent due to not having enogh room. with that said it can be done. i wouldnt get more than 2 since the tank is only 36 inches long. you can get some smaller ones and try for a pair and take the others to a pet shop once some pair up though. if it was me i would get rams. german blue or bolivian are really pretty.

I'd only have a breeding pair in something that size.
Maybe some tetras with it.

I agree with Wicca. The 40 breeder is too shallow to house angels long term. They make a great grow out tank for the younger angels, but you'll need a 55 or larger for 2-4 adults.
