I'm hoping for better luck with the tank raised babies. They are getting aggressive though and I've had to separate a few.

Thanks Rob.

They are still no where near breeding age but are getting pretty fiesty and eating like pigs. Here's a couple of recent shots.

Just a couple of updates

I have the tank divided by a foam piece. I'm using amazonia one side and a bare tank on the other for easier maintenance, There's HOB that sucks from the amazonia side into the bare side.

3 month update

Can they be stripped of eggs like mouth brooding cichlids?

Thanks Guys.

Yes I've stripped my previous pair before. This tends to stress the male out though. And he will not be so excited about breeding the next time around.

The hard part is keeping the eggs from developing fungus.

Update:

We have adult coloring! I've got 3 males and 4 females. The macs are growing nicely in the 35G Long.

20% RO water changes every week.
I feed Pellets in the AM and a cube of bloodworms in the PM.

I even saw a female do the mating dance the other day. But none of the males are mature enough to know that it was a the wiggle dance of love.
