Will Dry Foods Work In Conditioning Fish to Breed?
Can kribensis be conditioned to breed by using only dry food? My bother feels that live food is required to really condition them for good breeding even though the quality of pellets is very high.
We have keep fish tanks for 50 years now and in the early decades only fed live foods exclusively. These days it's JUST the opposite and I use New Life Spectrum exclusively, with good results, but never breeding anything. My brother says his experience with livebearers such as guppies and mollies showed that breeding is not nearly as good with dry foods exclusively. I say that part of that is the MUCH lower quality of these fish coming from Asia.
So this question is to those members that have experience using various types of food in prep for breeding. Have you had good results, in particular with kribensis, in using dry foods in breeding?
After 50 years I do a lot of things right, but still get things wrong
