Convicts eating snails!?!

So...i recently bought convict cichlids to try and start them breeding in my 20l. Tank was pretty infested with snails. Only other tankmates are 2 clown plecos, 1 oto, and 1 peppered cory. Been 2 weeks now and my snail population is zilch. I was not under the impression they ate snails!? (note the snails were thriving with the other fish before i added the convicts)

My convicts were like that too. Anything that fit in their mouth they ate. Tried to kill their tankmates, especially when they had babies to protect. Also rearranged the gravel and plants too. It was fun watching them grow, but it was really hard to find people who wanted to take them.

Yup, sounds normal to me. They are little piggies. If it fits, its dinner.
