how should I QT otos?

I want to add some otos to an established tank. In the past I have put newly purchased otos directly into their perminant homes given the following conditions. One, they are the first fish being introduced into the tank and remain so for several weeks. Secondly, due to their sensitive nature, the tanks are always well established ( bio film, diatoms etc ) .

Should I qt them and just hope they will eat algae waffers?

You could try growing some algae on some rocks and put them in qt with those rocks. I don't know if that would be enough food for them for the entire qt time but it's worth a try. Also in my experience my otos will eat zuchini from the grocery store, so that might be an option as well. Just a warning though, I only buy organic fruits from the grocery, I wash them thouroughly, then I peel them and blanch them, THEN I put them in the tank lol.

All my tanks have small pieces of malaysian driftwood tucked in here and there so I can fish them out to help feed algae eaters in QT or temporary quarters/new tanks. You can also check to see what plants might need trimming and float the clippings in the QT tank to give them some additional security and live surfaces to glean edibles from.
