I was watching my fish and noticed my mollie has eggs outside her body. Im really worried. The male has been following her and harassing her all day. I caught her just to show you what I mean, then released her. Will she be ok?
well those arent her eggs. Mollys/platies are livebearers. (also looks more like a platy/swordtail to me) It looks to me like some kind of external parasite to me
Actually, they are eggs. I do understand that they are live bearing, but the live fry start off as eggs inside the female and then develop into the live fry before being born. She did have a few under developed fry earlier. Btw, she is a molly. I know the difference between the three...
I'm going to guess your platy is giving birth. I have seen it several times when my guppies have given birth. It's no big deal. She will become pregnant again in no time and it wont affect future breedings
Uhh I want to say it's a platy that has unfertilized eggs it's trying to eject. Need a clearer picture.
Also prolapsing doesn't always happen from parasites....it can happen from BIRTH too(Happens in humans as well! Does this mean she has parasites? No!). Everyone is jumping to conclusions. Calm down, it looks likes a perfectly healthy fish that's having complications with birth.
